Running Sphere

Post-Chicago

This time a week ago, I was feeling pretty damn good. It would have been easy to get too relaxed, too confident after such an unexpectedly good run, but I've been trying my hardest to avoid that trap.

First off, thank you all for the amazing comments. It was a lot of fun reading them all. And, to answer a couple questions: Yes, I'm running Boston 2010, I was already registered actually (with my Delaware time). And, no, this doesn't change my plan for Philly. My only goal is to break 3 hours. I'll be thrilled if I run a 2:59:59. I know that cutting that extra 6 minutes is going to be a lot tougher than it seems.

And so, I'm going to work even harder this coming month to get fully prepared. I had to take an extra rest day this past week because of a knee issue, but still finished the week with almost 57 miles, including a 21.5 mile run yesterday. I didn't do any speedwork, though, not feeling quite up to it yet. I'll get back into that routine next week. I have intervals planned for Tuesday and a 5 mile race on Saturday.

Only three hard weeks left before the two week taper. I'm getting pre-race jitters already. Bring it.

Uh, the taper and the anxiety!! Don't you feel like you need a therapy in that part? I do!! I am glad you are still are it and still being smart to take a day off if needed! 6 minutes... could be tough, but all that matters is that you try your best!
