Wednesday, Feb. 8th

A busy day at school, a super speedy outside 2 mile loop along the East River, and then a lovely evening at Foley's baseball bar with Laurel, Megan, and Robert. R ran the Empire State Building Run-Up for the 3rd year in a row and finished with a new personal record. We took a cab home and I was asleep before I could count to ten. It was great catching up with Laurel and Megan, though it shows my school-related stress level that I forgot to take a picture of us for the blog. The photo is credited to R.

My student teacher taught my classes today so that I could lock myself in the 2nd floor school library and flesh out the 14 science fair projects the students are working on. It was a tremendously productive day. I didn't leave my computer between the hours of 9 am and 7 pm - I even had food delivered to me! I am so proud of myself for asking for this time and making good use of it. There was no feasible way to get this done in my 42 minute preps or my after school time, while remaining sane. The photo is from the day before when we were matching up student choices regarding their partners and projects.

It shows my obsession with science fair planning that the most exciting picture from today is of the stopwatches that finally arrived. 803 and 801 were awesome; 802 was not. Ugh. We got our schedule for the tri-annual school quality review on Monday and Tuesday. Which class will the superintendent be visiting? 802 of course… I jetted out of school and did laundry and errands after school in preparation for R's visit to the city this weekend.

Robert arrived last night. We ran in Central Park with A this morning and then watched Elizabeth: The Golden Age . He went off to The Millrose Games and I'm tackling my estimated nine-hour to-do list for mostly school related items. I've done hard things before. I can do this! Vacation in one week. I just spent an hour and a half trying to make three interactive slides for the smart board lesson I'm doing on Monday. Not a satisfying way to spend my time.

Take good care of yourself.
Love, mom
Finally doing some catching up myself and decided to see what I've been missing on your blog (and in your life!) Thanks for the recent text and glad that you and Robert are enjoying a week together in PA. It's great fun to read your blog and find out what's been happening in your life. We had Mom and Tony over for supper on Tuesday night.
Hope this finds you both very well and rested/resting.
Lynn
